Jul 27, 2024    Thailer Jimerson

In this message, we finally alight upon the final chapter of the book of Jonah. This is the climax. The point. As we enter the scene, we see an intimate conversation about anger, justice, and mercy between God-as-Therapist and the angry prophet. What's the problem that keeps Jonah and God at odds? As a part 1, this sermon will explore the problem of the book while the next and final sermon - part 2 - will explore the answer God is pointing us to.

"do you do well to be angry?"

Depends:

- why is he angry?

- what is he going to do with it?

- how can we deal with anger?

“Yea more, with His own hand He seemed

Intent to aggravate my woe;

Crossed all the fair designs I schemed,

Blasted my gourds, and laid me low.

Lord, why is this, I trembling cried,

Wilt thou pursue Thy worm to death?

’Tis in this way, the Lord replied,

I answer prayer for grace and faith.”
