Jesus and the Paralytic

Jan 18, 2026    Thailer Jimerson

In Luke 5:17–26, Jesus heals a paralyzed man—but not before doing something even more shocking: forgiving his sins. This sermon explores why forgiveness is our deepest need, what the miracle reveals about the identity and authority of Christ, and how Jesus came not only to heal what’s broken in us, but to make us right with God.

Scripture: Luke 5.17-26

(Additional Reading: 1 Corinthians 11.29-32; James 5.13-16; Isaiah 43.25; Psalm 103.2-3)

Warm-Up:

What’s the main reason you come to Jesus?

“A God without wrath brought men without sin into a kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross.”
