God in Search of Man

Jun 11, 2023    Thailer Jimerson

Our starting point for all things must be to answer the question: Who is God?

Asking this is not unrelated to another question, one that God actually asks this time: "Where are you?" (Genesis 3.9). What does this simplest of questions, the very first God asks, on the very first page of the Bible, teach us about his character?

All of man's theories of religion begin with man's search for God, but the Bible begins with God's search for man.

“God is not a pearl at the bottom of the ocean, the discovery of which depends upon the skill and intelligence of man. The initiative must be ours, yet the achievement depends on Him, not only on us. Without His love, without His aid, man is unable to come close to Him.”
